TCU’s win over Cincinnati on Saturday avoided a potential disaster scenario for Sun Devils after ASU’s upset of Arizona earlier Saturday.

ASU football, which beat Arizona 49-7 in the Territorial Cup, was tied with Colorado, BYU and Iowa State for first place in the Big 12 entering this weekend’s regular season finale, with each team posting a 6-2 conference record.

But Sun Devils coach Kenny Dillingham’s team is headed to the conference finals at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Dec. 7 following TCU’s win. Only a Cincinnati win over TCU, combined with a BYU loss in its 8:15 pm MST game Saturday, would have kept ASU out of the conference championship game.

Here are the tiebreak scenarios for the Big 12 championship games between Arizona State, Colorado, BYU and Iowa State following Colorado’s win over Oklahoma State, Texas Tech’s win over West Virginia, Baylor’s win over Kansas, Arizona State’s win over Arizona, TCU’s win over Cincinnati and Iowa State win over Kansas State.

Three-Team Tie Scenarios:

  • BYU loss: Colorado vs Arizona State

Colorado would win the tiebreaker over Iowa State for the final spot in the Big 12 title game if BYU loses to Houston.

Four-Team Tie Scenarios:

  • Arizona State vs. Iowa State

Iowa State would win the tiebreaker over Colorado and BYU is BYU beats Houston.
