The city of El Paso wants people to support small businesses on Saturday by doing their holiday shopping downtown.

As part of National Small Business Saturday — celebrated annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving — the city wants El Pasoans to head downtown and shop local and support local vendors at the WinterFest Market.

The city said El Paso merchants have a variety of local artisans, food vendors and live entertainment to choose from.

The city also said it wants to raise awareness of the initiative by encouraging shoppers to post on social media, tagging @TheMarketEP and using the hashtag #ShopSmall.

The last day of WinterFest will be January 5th.
