Why is Hoda Kotb leaving the Today Show?

Today’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade may be Hoda Kotb’s last time hosting. In September, she announced that she would step down Today show in January 2025.

After celebrating his 60th birthday, Kotb shared“I realized it was time for me to turn the page at 60 and try something new.” She added that her daughters – Haley and Hope – and her mother “need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie.”

Last month, Kotb teased a new project in an interview with People. “I have something that I’m super excited about that’s in its infancy. It’s a whole wellness thing, and I was enlightened by it, just by things that I’ve worked on and done on myself. I’ve learned to doing a lot of different things with breathwork and stuff through friends, through Jenna (Bush Hager), through Maria (Shriver), through all these different people, and I’ve loved it.”

Kotb added that she’s “still in the early stages” of getting a “really good wellness app together and doing wellness retreats and stuff.”

She continued, “I think it would be, number one, fun, and number two, helpful. When I learned some of these things, I thought, ‘Wait, why do I feel like my baseline feels less stressed? Why? do I feel like that?’ So I talked about this, and then the more you’re interested, the more you go that way.”

No further details have yet been released about Kotb’s new wellness business. In the meantime, she plans to be “part of the NBC family.” What that looks like remains to be seen.
