‘One of the worst own goals’: The hockey world reacts to Lindgren’s fork

Charlie Lindgren did something objectively funny on Wednesday. Well, fun for everyone except him and his Washington Capitals teammates.

Tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning at three goals apiece in the third period, the netminder cashed in on a clearance and immediately backhanded the puck into his own net.

Lindgren clearly intended to knock the puck off the boards to teammate John Carlson, but his kinesthetic sense failed him when he misjudged where the net he was responsible for protecting was.

Not only did the goal give Tampa Bay the lead, but it also gave Brayden Point a hat trick.

The Capitals eventually came back to win the game 5-4. It would be fair that the six foot keeper was relieved.

The foul play had Hockey fans in stitches on social media (except for Capitals fans, of course). Here are some of the best reactions to Lindgren’s fork.
