I-70 reopens near Vail, Silverthorne after closure due to weather hazard

Interstate 70 was closed near Vail and Silverthorne Sunday out of “safety concerns” as snow hit the Colorado mountains, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The eastbound interstate was closed between East Vail exit 180 and Vail Pass Summit exit 190, about 1 mile west of Copper Mountain, and reopened overnight, CDOT officials said.

CDOT cameras in the cordon area showed snowy roads and white conditions.
