Morgan Freeman, 87, makes rare appearances while out and about in Los Angeles

Morgan Freeman get busy living.

In fact, the 87-year-old stepped out in Los Angeles on Nov. 24 for a rare night out with friends, enjoying dinner at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.

For the apartment is The Shawshank Redemption the star kept it low-key – wearing a flannel button-up shirt teamed with a black baseball hat and black trousers. He also wore a beige compression glove on his left hand, an accessory he has worn periodically since a 2012 car accident left him with nerve damage.

Shortly after the accident, Morgan called the injury – which left his left arm virtually useless – “excruciating”, but he has also maintained a positive outlook on the life-changing disorder.

“There is a point to changes like these,” he said Esquire in 2012, lamenting the loss of some of his favorite hobbies, including sailing and flying airplanes. “I have to move on to other things, to other ideas about myself. I play golf. I’m still working.”
