New Orleans weather: Cold front arrives Thanksgiving Day | Weather

A cold front is expected to sweep through southern Louisiana on Thanksgiving Day, bringing cold temperatures, wind and potentially freezing weather to some areas through the weekend, according to National Weather Service forecast.

NWS lead forecaster Phil Grigsby describes a “mild” Thanksgiving ahead with showers and temperatures in the mid-70s. But Thursday night, the front will move through New Orleans, dropping temperatures into the upper 40s.

Inland parts of the Northshore — Bogalusa, Franklinton, Bush and other areas along I-12 — may even experience a light freeze Friday night into Saturday morning.

The Climate Prediction Center said in a forecast Monday morning that temperatures could develop below average across Louisiana through next week.
