The President-elect’s criminal charges regarding obstruction of justice and classified records were dropped by U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith, who filed papers in court Monday indicating the department would no longer move forward with either case against him. Trump’s two federal charges remain pending as he prepares to return to Washington. Stocks and bonds rose on bets that his choice for Treasury secretary, hedge fund manager Scott Bessent, will dilute his trade stance. And Goldman Sachs trader Scott Rubner expects a year-end rally to push the S&P 500 to 6,200 points.
