Is it going to snow in Colorado Springs? | Weather

Weather in the Colorado Springs area is expected to be mostly sunny Sunday, with a high near 62, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

A northwest wind around 5-10 mph will be present, changing to south-southwest later in the day. Light snow returns to the Continental Divide today and tonight, with a focus across the central mountains. 4 to 6 inches of new snow will be possible across the central mountains tonight, while the tops of the southwestern mountains could see a total of 1 to 2 inches of new snow.

A cold front will push south across the eastern plains tonight, and as clouds descend with the frontal passage there is a low chance of some light snow showers over Teller County and northern El Paso County between 19.00 and midnight. Any snow accumulation is expected to be very light, generally less than an inch and mainly on grassy surfaces.

Residents of the Pikes Peak region should expect clear and sunny skies on Thanksgiving Day, with temperatures in the low to mid-30s, but the National Weather Service is predicting light rain and snow showers in the days leading up to the holiday.

Colorado Springs could see some rain and snow showers as early as Sunday night, according to the weather agency. Chances of precipitation are around 30%, with new precipitation of less than an inch.

Monday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high in the low 40s, but rain and snow are likely Tuesday night and could continue into Wednesday. New snow accumulation should be less than half an inch, the NWS predicts.

“Right now we were expecting about an inch of snow in the city until Wednesday afternoon,” said meteorologist Michael Garberoglio. “Going north toward Monument Hill, we’re probably looking at 3 to 4 inches total.”

Teller County residents should expect 4 to 6 inches of snow by Wednesday, Garberoglio said, with higher totals near Pikes Peak.

“The top of Pikes Peak will probably see 8-10 inches,” he said.

Near the Continental Divide, snow activity will pick up late Monday and remain steady for most of the week, with Leadville expected to see 8-11 inches, according to the weather agency.

“As you go up toward the peaks in that area, we expect amounts in excess of a foot to 18 inches,” Garberoglio said.
