IPL Auction History Made: Meet the Most Expensive Player

The mega auction for the upcoming season of IPL is underway and this has been a thoroughly entertaining session so far. In that context, here’s a look at the all-time records that have been created at auction this year.

Rishab Pant has created history by becoming the most expensive player in the history of the league. He is sold to Lucknow for a whopping Rs 27 million. This is the highest amount paid for a player in the league.

But before the Pant frenzy at the auction, Shreyas Iyer was briefly the most expensive player in the league when he was sold to Punjab for Rs 26.75 crore. After an intense battle between Punjab and Delhi, Shreyas Iyer ended up being sold for a mighty Rs 26.75 crore.

On a related note, Punjab had also retained the Right To Match option to buy Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crores. They now have two of the biggest purchases at the auction so far. But it is Lucknow that has the most expensive player in history in the form of Pant.
