Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is a four-time Formula 1 world champion after the Dutch driver claimed P5 at the Las Vegas Grand Prix – shrugging off the title challenge by McLaren’s Lando Norris as Mercedes driver George Russell claimed a confident victory in Nevada.

Norris needed to outscore Verstappen by three points at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit to keep his slim title hopes alive. But ultimately he was unable to do anything to stop Verstappen on a night when the McLaren was far from the fastest car, eventually coming home in the P6 position he started in.

While all eyes were on Verstappen, who claimed a fourth title – only the sixth driver to claim four or more titles in F1 history – Russell from pole position put together a faultless drive for his third career victory, leading home team-mate Lewis Hamilton for a Mercedes one -two.
