Colder air and snowflakes move into Minnesota – Chris

Happy Tuesday evening everyone! After another much-needed soaking rain brought a widespread 1 to 2 inches of precipitation to the state, attention now turns to falling temperatures, wind and snowflakes that will soon fly. There may be a brief period of clear skies tonight as dry air moves in, but moisture packing back in will bring increasing clouds and snow showers as temperatures begin to drop further.

Wednesday will start in the mid-30s. Snow showers coming from west to east throughout the morning. During the evening commute, snow showers should taper off a bit as temperatures hover around freezing. While a dusting is expected in the metro, far northwest Minnesota could see a few inches of fresh snow. This is where winter weather advisories are in place. More than anything else, expect rapidly decreasing visibility at times as heavier pockets of snow showers move through.

Temperatures are slightly milder Thursday with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Clouds will stick with us most of the week as the 30s return through the weekend and into early next week. There is a chance for a few light snow showers Sunday through Monday, with a better chance for snow in northern Minnesota if this potential system holds together. For now, it’s just something to look at.

Enjoy the evening and take care everyone!
