‘The Voice’ fans have thoughts on Gwen Stefani’s Playoff Advisor pick

With live shows on The voice season 26 just around the corner, the remaining competitors will get a taste of what it’s like to work with other incredible musicians. But after what the show just revealed, it looks like fans were holding onto hope that they would see this former coach make a grand return.

Ahead of the playoff rounds beginning in the November 19 episode, The voice surprised viewers by revealing which award-winning artist would be assisting the coach Gwen Stefani prior to the performances. In a post uploaded on the show’s official Instagramfans learned Grammy Award nominee mgk (aka Machine Gun Kelly) will step in as a Playoff Advisor for Gwen and help her team as they try to make it to the next round of competition against them at Michael BublĂ©, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg‘s team.

“Make some noise for Team Gwen’s Playoff Advisor… mgk! ,” the Nov. 18 caption read. “Don’t miss the playoffs TOMORROW 9/8c on @nbc and streaming on @peacock!”

While the news of Machine Gun Kelly joining the show in this capacity excited many fans, some were disappointed that former trainer Blake Shelton (who is also married to Gwen) would not be there to help his wife at this stage of the season.

“Good choice but there was a little part of me that thought it would be Blake ,” one person wrote in the comments. “Me too. I was hoping,” replied another follower.

Even if fans don’t want to see Blake anymore The voice season 26, mgk makes a good choice as someone to assist Gwen during the playoffs. While he has so far only been in the show as a performer back in 2017 (as of People), a clip aired on the show’s YouTube account really shows his expertise in the music industry that he offers to participants Jake Tankersley advice during his test.

“You have a nice smile,” mgk told Jake in the clip. “So maybe put a smile on your face and let people know they can be close to you. When you have a moment where there are no lyrics because there are so many words, step away from the mic and play your guitar… It’s all about the feeling, you have a wife and kids, they bring color to your life, so it’s all about the feeling.”

We’ll definitely be tuning in to see what else mgk brings The voice table!
