Knott’s Berry Farm tour stuck for over an hour; 22 people saved

BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) — Twenty-two riders were rescued after being stuck on a ride at Knott’s Berry Farm for over an hour Monday afternoon due to technical difficulties before mechanics lowered the ride to the ground and released the riders.

“At approximately 2:00 p.m., the Sol Spin ride experienced technical issues that caused the ride to stop. We are currently working to safely evacuate guests,” a Knott’s Berry Farm spokesperson said in a statement.

Air7 was over the scene at around 15:30 when the rescue work was underway. At one point, mechanics were seen on a crane working on the side of the ride trying to get the ride up and running.

Around 4:30 p.m., mechanics lowered the ride to the ground and released riders from the Sol Spin ride. Two people were taken away in wheelchairs after getting off the ride. Their condition is unknown.

The ride was stuck in a horizontal position for more than an hour, with some riders seen leaning sideways. No riders seemed to hang upside down.

The Sol Spin ride is located in the Fiesta Village area of ​​Knott’s Berry Farm. It is a high speed spinning ride that rotates in three directions at once.
