Donald Trump appoints Steven Cheung as White House communications director

Steven Cheung, who served as one of Donald Trump’s top spokesmen during his presidential campaign, will move to the White House to serve as assistant to the president and communications director.

Cheung had been communications director for the campaign and previously served in the Trump White House as director of strategic response.

Trump also appointed Sergio Gore as Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of the President’s Personnel.

Trump has not yet appointed a press secretary. Earlier this week, Mediaite reported that Alina Habba, one of Trump’s lawyers, turned down the job.

Habba wrote on X: “Although I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of press secretary is not one I am considering. Although I love to scream from a podium, I would be better served in other capacities.”
