Entergy Texas receives 2024 Heroes of the Community Award from Global Energy Transition

THE WOODLANDS, TX — For the second year in a row, Entergy Texas is honored to receive the 2024 Heroes of the Community Award presented by Global energy transition organization. The award recognizes the company’s continued commitment to sustainable energy initiatives and partnerships that help drive the energy transition forward.

As the world increasingly explores renewable resources such as solar and wind, the shift to a more sustainable energy future can have a significant impact on local communities, particularly in terms of job displacement. GET, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, seeks to advance the careers of displaced energy professionals and entrepreneurs by helping them find new opportunities in the evolving low-carbon economy.

“Entergy Texas has been a steadfast partner in GET’s journey from early on, elevating our mission to empower displaced energy professionals and supporting the ‘human factor’ of the energy transition,” said Sonia Clayton, President of GET. “This year, as the official host of our 2024 GET Awards of Excellence, Entergy Texas helped bring together over 130 business and community leaders to honor those making a profound impact in the energy sector. Their support exemplifies true leadership, corporate responsibility and commitment to a sustainable future. We are truly grateful for their unwavering commitment and community partnership.”

Since 2020, Entergy Corporation has hired at least 40 talented professionals transitioning from oil and gas companies, including 21 individuals in mid- to senior-level roles. This initiative cultivates a skilled and diverse workforce and strengthens the vitality of our local communities.

“Our work at Entergy is not just about keeping the lights on; it’s about empowering the people who make up our beloved community,” said Betina Brandon, GET board member and director of workforce development at Entergy. “By partnering with GET, we are helping to retain talented individuals who have the industry experience and expertise to support our region’s rapidly growing energy needs.”
