Actress claims she was ‘harassed, threatened and verbally abused’ by WestJet flight attendant

An actress has claimed she was ‘harassed and verbally abused’ by a WestJet flight attendant who ‘threatened’ to kick her off the plane if she didn’t change seats.

Charlet Chung, 41, who is best known for voicing D.Va in the popular video game Overwatch, took to TikTok on Sunday to share a horrifying experience she allegedly endured while flying from Winnipeg, Canada, to Los Angeles, California, recently.

The star said that after boarding the plane, the man sitting behind her began ‘kicking and pushing’ her seat ‘repeatedly’ for over 20 minutes.

When she turned to ‘see what was happening’, she claimed he told her to ‘f**k off’.

Charlet said she then tried to report the incident to a flight attendant named Tricia, but the actress claimed that when she repeated what the man had said to her to airline staff, she was the one who got into trouble.

She claimed Tricia became enraged that she swore, despite only saying the explicit word to summarize what the man had said, and told her she had to get on the plane if she didn’t moved to a new row.

In TikTok videowhich has been viewed a whopping 6.3 million times, Charlet shared a clip of Tricia talking to her after she agreed to switch seats.

“I didn’t see what happened, I don’t know, but I don’t want you to use that word again,” Tricia said.

“I only repeated what he said,” replied Charlet. “Can you please ask him not to use that word to me too?”

“Yeah, I want to talk to him, but what I see right now is that you have the band and I don’t want any trouble here, okay?” the flight attendant shot back.

“(The captain) is aware of that and we can relieve you if you keep saying those words.”

When Charlet asked Tricia if she was going to tell him the same, the cabin crew member said: ‘Well, he seems compliant right now and I didn’t hear anything.’

Charlet told her followers that after Tricia’s ‘humiliating public speech’ to her, she went to speak to the man who had kicked her seat, but it seemed like a much friendlier conversation.

And when she whipped out her phone to record it, she claimed Tricia was ‘steering at her.’

‘I stopped filming out of fear and then she aggressively said, “Why are you filming? Why are you causing more trouble?”‘ Charlet wrote. ‘To which I quietly replied that I am not.

‘Then she blocked me from going to the toilet. I had to ask her several times to please let me go to use the toilet.’

She said Tricia reached out ‘again’ later and included an excerpt of their conversation.

“Do you have a problem with me?” Charlet was heard asking Tricia, who responded with: ‘I have a problem with you because you swore.’

“I was the one who got cursed,” an exasperated Charlet told her. ‘I told you what was said to me. I reached out for help.’

Tricia then told her that the ‘other people on the plane’ didn’t want to hear her ‘foul language’ and called her ‘belligerent and unruly’.

‘He was belligerent to me and I reported to you what happened,’ Charlet doubled down.

‘I never swore at him and I never swore at you. You moved me (to a new seat) and made me the threat.

‘Why do you become biased in a situation that you were not a part of? You said yourself that you didn’t hear anything, but for some reason you took their side’.

Charlet said she was ‘mistreated’ for the remainder of the four and a half hour flight, and was even ‘threatened to be arrested upon her arrival due to “verbal abuse” and “recordings.”

‘We want police at the airport and there will be federal consequences,’ another cabin crew member is heard telling her in a final clip as she is handed a paper detailing her ‘potential arrest’.

It is unknown if the police were involved in the landing.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, a representative for WestJet said: ‘We have recently heard of a situation involving a guest and one of our flight attendants.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and crew is always our top priority and we have begun the process of working with internal teams to obtain more information.”

On her Instagram, Charlet said she had decided to speak publicly about it because she didn’t want her ‘Asian American children to think this is acceptable or normal in any way’ and to ‘grow up in a world where people are too afraid to stand up for themselves.’

“This WestJet crew and (passenger) put me through the most disturbing, dehumanizing experience I have ever had on a plane,” she wrote.

‘This is not acceptable and is completely inappropriate. I was degraded, threatened and humiliated in front of an entire plane for a whole four and a half hour flight.

“I can’t imagine the number of POC passengers who have endured this kind of discriminatory treatment.”

The actress also claimed she suffered from ‘panic attacks’ and experienced ‘PTSD’ from the ordeal.

“It was a four and a half hour flight with non-stop abuse and harassment from the crew,” she concluded.

‘The merciless bullying of the stevedores, when I was basically their prisoner in the air, was excruciating. I was trapped.

‘I am still shaken and triggered by this flight and the abuse I suffered at the hands of the entire crew – and will never forget it.’
