Eva Longoria flees the ‘dystopian’ United States to split her time between two homes abroad

“I’m privileged,” Longoria chimed in an interview with Marie Claire. “I’m going to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

The Desperate Housewives The actress, who bounced over Harris and helped rally volunteers with Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) during the election, no longer lives in the United States full-time. Instead, she divides her time between her two overseas homes in Spain and Mexico.

Longoria said she doesn’t miss living in Los Angeles because of taxes and homelessness, and now that President Donald Trump is returning to the White House, she no longer wants to spend more time in the U.S.

“But even before (the pandemic), it was changing. The mood was different. And then COVID happened and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to kid California— it just feels like this chapter of my life is done now,” she said.

She said she felt depressed in 2016 about Trump’s presidency, and now she’s shocked that “a convicted felon” has become president again.

“The shocking thing is not that he won,” she said. “It’s that a convicted felon who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”

Longoria was featured as a headliner at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this year.

“Kamala’s success is our success,” the actress said at the DNC in August. “And she supports us to also dream big. So let me tell you – in the Latino community, our community – we have a saying, ‘Si Se Puede!’… It means ‘Yes, we can!’ But tonight I’m here to tell you, ‘Yes, she can!’ So we will say, ‘She Se Puede!’”

“I’d like to think our fight continues,” Longoria added. “If (Trump) keeps his promises, it will be a scary place.”
