John Krasinski Reveals Wife Emily Blunt’s Reaction After He Was Named Sexiest Man Alive 2024 By People

John Krasinski has revealed wife Emily Blunt’s reaction after he was named 2024’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People.

The actor, writer and director whose credits include the American version of The office, Jack Ryanand A quiet placeclinched the title in what has become a highly anticipated annual event.

Krasinksi, 45, was named the year’s most desirable man, as he took over the baton from the former Grey’s Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey, who won in 2023 — and it turns out Krasinski was pretty confused after learning the news.

speaks to People of the announcement, he said he experienced “instant blackout”, adding that he had “zero thoughts … other than maybe I’ll get punked”.

He continued: “It’s not like I wake up and think, ‘Is this the day I get asked to be the sexiest man alive?’ And yet that was the day you did it. You really raised the bar for me.”

Krasinski also shared the response the news got from his wife, actress Emily Blunt, with whom he has two children and has been married for 14 years.

According to Krasinski, there was “a lot of joy involved” in telling Blunt, who was “very excited”.

He said Blunt even joked that she would print off the cover and use it as wallpaper.

“Do we have it on camera? Because it’s like a binding contract, I think. My kids will love it, it won’t be weird at all.”

Krasinki joked that the honor, rather than earning him goodwill at home, might result in him having to “more domestic duties.

“When this comes out, (Blunt) will be like, ‘Okay, this means you’re really going to earn this at home.'”

Talking further The Late Show with Stephen Colbertwhen the announcement was first revealed, Krasinski said the first person he told outside of his family was Matt Damon.

“The only person I slipped up and told was that the day we were shooting, I went to Matt Damon’s birthday party. When I came in – yep, name drop, don’t worry – when I came in, he had such a good birthday and I was late to the party. And he was like ‘Oh, man, why are you late?’ and I was like,’Folks Sexy!”
