Jake Paul spends $200,000 to troll Mike Tyson with ‘earmuffs’ in final pre-fight mind game

Jake Paul has put down a whopping $200,000 in a bid to continue his mind games ahead of his biggest game yet this weekend.

The controversial star faces Mike Tyson on Friday night, and continued to troll his rival at their final press conference on Wednesday night in Texas. ‘Iron Mike’ looked like he’d rather be anywhere else on earth as he mumbled his way through a lengthy Q&A with the world’s media.

And at one point, Paul showed his latest effort to taunt his opponent, invoking the memory of one of his greatest shames. He unveiled a set of diamond earmuffs, calling back to Tyson’s 1997 rematch with Evander Holyfield, when he bit off part of his rival’s ear during the fight.

In his latest attempt to mock Tyson, Jake Paul bought a pair of diamond-encrusted and spiked ‘earmuffs’. The ostensible reason for wearing such gear is to prevent your ears from being bitten off by New York natives, who have a history in that department.

Paul also wore a Jacob and Co. “billionaire” watch. of 7 million dollars on stage. The massive expense will make a serious dent in even his reported purse of $40 million for the fight, which he played with co-headliner Katie Taylor during another press conference segment.

“I’m not getting my s*** bit off Friday night,” Paul told Tyson during an otherwise relatively uneventful press conference before showing off his expensive VOBARA jewelry. “So I’ve got my diamond-tipped earplugs right there.”

Mike Tyson infamously bit off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear in the world title fight

The stunt that Paul pulled was supposed to bring back memories of the infamous night in 1997 when Tyson faced Evander Holyfield for the second time. He had been stopped the first time they met seven months earlier and their rematch did not go his way as they reached the third round.

The first fight saw Holyfield dominate for eleven rounds and the second went the same way. Complaining about headbutting from his rival, Tyson retaliated by biting the other’s ear and receiving a two-point deduction.

However, that penalty was not enough to deter him from doing it again in the third. He went one step further and actually took a piece out of Holyfield’s ear, leading to the fight being canceled and chaos taking over the arena.

They eventually patched things up and Tyson has even sold weed gum to make fun of the situation. Now the pair are close friends and regularly discuss the incident in documentaries and performances.
