Rain chances today develop into a storm threat for Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Rain chances quickly return to the forecast today with a storm threat expected on Wednesday.

The old circulation associated with Rafael remains parked along the Louisiana coast and is beginning to pull moisture back into the area. This will lead to off and on showers throughout today’s forecast. The extra clouds will keep us in the mid-70s for highs.

A storm threat will develop Wednesday as a cold front sweeps into the state. This extra lift will combine with Rafael’s old circulation to give a good chance for storms. Some of these storms can be severe with damaging winds or a random tornado. Storm activity should end as we head into the evening and overnight.

Sometime at the end of this week our weather will be pretty good. Highs will drop back into the lower 70s as the nice feeling of fall air arrives. Saturday morning lows will dip into the 40s and 50s.

The tropics – Sara is likely to form in the Caribbean during the next 48 hours. This storm could become a strong hurricane as it slowly meanders down there. Long range shows the storm lifting north into the southeastern Gulf.
