‘Wicked’ icon Kristin Chenoweth says she’s ‘nothing without my gays’

Kristin Chenoweth is nothing without her gays!

Out’s very own Raffy Ermac captured Chenoweth, who famously originated the role of Glinda in the Broadway version of Evilat the Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming film version of the musical!

“Hey icon, good to see you, the gays love you, as usual,” Out said.

“I love the gays,” she said, before breaking into beautiful song, singing: “I’m nothing without my gays.”

“At its core, the story is a love story between two women,” Out asked later. “So what’s it like to get to see this kind of love story again on the big screen for the masses?”

“I’m just so happy that there are things we can’t do on stage that they can do with the film when you come in for a closeup,” Chenoweth replied. “And I’m especially happy with what I saw on the faces of Cynthia (Erivo, who plays Elphaba) and Ariana (Grande, who plays Glinda). I’ve seen the movie on a big screen, so certain moments really resonated with me that you know, me and Idina, we played in the back of the house.”

“And I also love that the legacy that we started is now. People will get to go that can’t afford to go to New York, go to a show and get a movie and go to dinner and get a hotel. It’s bringing it home, and that makes me the happiest,” she added.

Out also asked Chenowith if she could take one song from Grande’s discography into the world Evilwhich it would be.

“‘Thanks, next’, for sure! Moving on from Fiyero and moving on from Elphaba, but coming back.”
