EAST LANSING — The Michigan State Spartans continue their early season schedule with a tune-up game before taking on one of the top teams in the nation next week when they host the Niagara Purple Eagles.

As the Spartans continue to get another season under way under legendary head coach Tom Izzo, they are trying to fine-tune some things leading up to the big matchup with the No. 1 Kansas next week. There were plenty of highlights worth mentioning from their season-opening win on Monday against Monmouth. including Jaden Akin’s leading 23 points. The standout guard will be the focal point of MSU’s offense and will be relied upon when the team goes up against other top teams in the country, including many from the Big Ten.

Coming out of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference, this will be the Purple Eagles’ first big game of their non-conference season and the first of two games in the Mitten as they are scheduled to face Detroit Mercy on Sunday. Niagara started the season with a 100-65 win over Houghton University.

This will be the first time the Spartans and Purple Eagles have ever met in men’s basketball.
