Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens pexplanations

Overtime was needed to separate AFC North rivals Cincinnati and Baltimore in their first meeting of the season in Week Five, and the Bengals appear to be worth backing to at least stay competitive against the Ravens when they clash again Thursday evening.

Both teams are now in better shape after early games, with the 6-3 Ravens winning six of their last seven games while the Bengals have taken three of their last four after a troubling 1-4 start.

This is the time of year when Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow usually hits peak form. Cincinnati has won 12 of their 16 games from Week 10 onward over the last three years Burrow has started.

The Cincinnati QB threw five TD passes against the Raiders last week to bring his total for the season to 20 and has only been intercepted four times.

Ravens counterpart Lamar Jackson has also been in great form, with 20 passing TDs and just two interceptions, and the home team also has the better rushing attack, leading the league in yards per rush (5.9) and rushing yards per game (191 .9) with running back Derrick Henry crushing everything in front of him.

However, this is the Ravens’ fourth game in 17 days, and it’s a divisional matchup that can often lead to close and hard-fought games, such as their meeting a month ago in which Baltimore edged 41-38 in overtime.

At 4-5, the Bengals can’t afford to lose any more ground and should at least be able to make this a close game.
