Update on Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht after leaving Wednesday’s game

With Anthony Davis and Rui Hachimura unable to play for Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday vs Memphis GrizzliesRookie Dalton Knecht made his first start as an NBA player. It gave him a great opportunity to show his potential and turn it into results.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. While he still possesses plenty of potential and promise and put in a good overall effort, he shot just 1-of-7 from the field as the Lakers were mauled 131-114.

At one point, Knecht left the game, appearing to have pain in his jaw. The good news, according to the team, is that he didn’t need any X-rays.

Knecht has shown signs of finally becoming an impact player early this season. He entered Wednesday averaging 7.3 points on 47.4% overall shooting and 37.5% from 3-point range in 15.9 minutes, and it may only be a matter of time before he enters the a long hot streak.
