Walz: Women will send ‘loud’ message to Trump on Election Day ‘whether he likes it or not’

Women will be the group that sensibly rejects former President Donald Trump on Election Day, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said at the final rally of his campaign Monday night in Detroit.

“Folks, it’s going to be pretty simple now: Kamala and I trust women,” Walz said. “Tomorrow, women across America, of all ages, of both parties, will send a loud, clear message to Donald Trump, whether he likes it or not.”

The comment is a callback to Trump, who last week told an audience in Green Bay, Wis., that he would protect women as president, “whether the women like it or not. I’m going to protect them.” Trump acknowledged during the comment that his top aides urged him not to call himself a protector because it is “inappropriate.”

Walz’s comment also hints at several polls showing a wide gender gap in the 2024 race, with women leaning toward Harris and Walz and men leaning toward Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
