The Kansas State football team has one last chance to turn a late-season slump on its head.

The Wildcats (8-4), eager to turn around a disastrous November — three losses in the last four regular-season games — can enter the offseason in a much more positive frame of mind Thursday with a win over Rutgers (7- 5) in the Rate Bowl. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 PM Central Time at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix.

K-State is favored by a touchdown, but the teams finished the regular season trending in opposite directions as Rutgers won three of its last four games and finished with a 41-14 blowout at Michigan State on Nov. 30. The Wildcats, meanwhile, dropped a 29-21 decision at Iowa State.

Both teams are looking for their second straight bowl wins after K-State beat North Carolina State last year in the Pop-Tarts Bowl and Rutgers beat Miami in the Pinstripe Bowl. Rutgers won the only previous matchup with the Wildcats, 37-10, in the 2006 Texas Bowl.
