JJ Watt hits back at Giants OT’s controversial TJ Watt comments: ‘What are you doing?’

On Tuesday, New York Giants offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor said TJ Watt didn’t do anything to him when they were matched up on an island. Aside from the ‘one impact play’ as Eluemunor said, Watt was shut down for most of the game.

“I was on an island with him for the majority of the game. And he didn’t do anything. I’m not going to sit here and sing his praises,” Eluemunor said on WFAN Radio. “He didn’t. do anything for three and a half quarters and have one impact play.”

Watt had six pressures and two sacks in the game. Eluemunor said before the game that he would be on an ‘island’ with Watt. The comments reached JJ Watt, who was on the Pat McAfee Show during his weekly appearance. JJ snapped back at Eluemunor whose comments seemed nothing short of odd to him.

“I mean, what are we doing here, man? What are you doing? You gave up a strip sack that lost the game,” JJ said. “Before the game, this guy says, ‘I want to be on an island with TJ’ TJ goes out there, seven tackles, two sacks, forced fumble, wins the game. One-on-one on the play, that’s your job, you didn’t.”

It’s no surprise to see JJ hit back at these comments from Eluemunor. TJ took the high road after the match saying it was more about competition and appreciated the challenge from anyone.

But Eluemunor saying he shut down Watt for most of the game is simply not true with the stats above. He definitely made a difference in the game.
