Former Iowa basketball player and analyst Jamie Cavey-Lang dies at age 41

Jamie Cavey-Lang, a former University of Iowa women’s basketball player and radio color analyst, died Saturday after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 41.

A part of the Iowa women’s basketball team from 2001 to 2005, Cavey-Lang was a standout player and a key member of four postseason teams. She finished her Hawkeye career with 1,265 points, ranking 27th in program history, and 506 rebounds. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and two-time All-Big Ten selection, she made a lasting impact on and off the field.

Following her playing career, Cavey-Lang joined Iowa’s radio broadcast team as a color analyst in 2016, working alongside Rob Brooks. She stepped down from the position after the 2022-23 season.

Cavey-Lang also earned her master’s degree in higher education from Iowa and went on to serve as a career counselor at the university. She was an advocate for student-athletes and served on the President’s Committee on Athletes for several years.

Visitation will be held from 16.00 to 7pm on December 26th at The Celebration Farm, 4696 Robin Woods Lane NE, Iowa City. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon.
