‘Home Alone’ was published 34 years ago. Here’s where the actors are now

Alone at home is one of the most popular Christmas movies of all time.

Starring Macaulay Culkin as 8-year-old Kevin McAllister, the film gave us many iconic moments and lines that continue to permeate popular culture to this day.

The film was released in 1990 and its follow-up Home Alone 2: Lost In New York followed in 1992.

Alone at home follows the McAllister family as they prepare to travel to Paris, France, but in the chaos they forget to take their son, Kevin, to the airport. Unbeknownst to the family and Kevin, who is stuck at home, their huge house has been cornered by “The Wet Bandits” (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), two burglars who take advantage of the holiday season to raid people’s belongings.

What follows is a hilarious comedy of events as the 8-year-old not only learns to take care of himself at home, but sets up the most elaborate traps to keep would-be burglars at bay.

But what about the cast, and even the famous house, at the center of the famous film?

How much is the Home Alone house worth today?

Located in Winnetka, Illinois, the 9,000-square-foot Georgian-style property was built in 1921 and has five bedrooms and six bathrooms.

It was put on the market earlier this year with an asking price of $5.25 million.

The home was appraised at $620,000 in 1990 and last sold in 2012 for $1.6 million.

Where is Macaulay Culkin now?

Perhaps one of the most famous child stars of all time, Culkin took a break from acting for a while. He is back at it now and appeared in TV shows American Horror Story: Double Featureand the Seth Green movie Land of change.

To celebrate the film this year, Culkin has been on a multi-city tour, concluding Q&A sessions at screenings of the film across the country called “A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin.”

In 2023, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was joined at the ceremony by his on-screen mother, Catherine O’Hara.

Where is Joe Pesci now?

The Oscar-winning actor retired from acting in 1999 and concentrated on music, but was lured back to acting by Martin Scorsese to appear in his 2019 film for Netflix, The Irishmanalong with Robert De Niro.

Where is Daniel Stern now?

The multi-talented Stern has kept busy in Hollywood ever since home alone, including voice acting in many animated films and television shows.

He currently stars in the Apple TV+ sci-fi show, For all mankind.

When he’s not acting, Stern is an avid artist who specializes in bronze sculpture.

Where is John Heard now?

Heard played Peter McCallister, Kevin’s father, in the film.

Heard died of cardiac arrest in 2017 at the age of 71. He had a prolific career, appearing in titles such as Modern Family, Entourage and The sopranos and movies White Chicks, The Pelican Brief and Great.

Where is Catherine O’Hara now?

A comedy legend, O’Hara most recently completed an Emmy-winning stint as Moira Rose on the television series Schitt’s Creek.

She has also starred in the films Beetlejuice, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and Best in Show.

IN home alone, she starred as Kate McCallister, Kevin’s mother.

Devin Ratray – Buzz

Ratray played Kevin’s bully brother Alone at home and is still very much a part of the world of film.

He played Buzz again in the Disney+ movie Home Sweet Home Alone and partnered with Airbnb to offer one lucky group the chance to stay in the original Alone at home house.

Ratray has had a number of legal troubles, including domestic violence charges to which he pleaded guilty earlier this year.

Angela Goethals – Linnie

Kevin’s older sister, Linnie, was portrayed by Goethals, a fellow child star.

After home alone, she had roles in various television and film roles, but her work focused mainly on Broadway and Off-Broadway theater.

Michael C. Maronna – Jeff

Jeff was one of Kevin’s older siblings, and Maronna continued to perform for some time after Alone at home but eventually moved behind the camera.

For much of the 2010s he worked in the camera and electrical department on many sets before returning to appear in the film this year, I saw the TV glow.

Hillary Wolf – Megan

Wolf played the last of the McAllister children, but her career was short-lived. She retired from acting in 1992 after Home Alone 2 was released.

She focused her efforts on her judo career and represented the United States at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games.

Gerry Bamman – Uncle Frank

The grumpy uncle was played by character actor Bamman, who has barely been out of work since the mid-1980s.

When not acting, Bamman works as a playwright.

Where is John Candy now?

The late actor appeared in at least four films written or directed by John Hughes.

Some of his better known films include Planes, trains and cars, Cool race, Space balls and Uncle Buckwhich Culkin also starred in.

IN Alone at homehe played Gus Polinski, a musician who helped Kevin’s mother get back to her forgotten son.

Candy died of a heart attack in 1994 at the age of 43.

Macaulay Culkin’s younger brother had a small role in Alone at home like his cousin, Fuller McAllister, but managed to be a scene stealer thanks to his comedic prowess.

He has stepped out of his brother’s shadow and established a successful career.
