The Epic Games Store is outdoing itself on Christmas Eve – offering up one of the best indie games of the last decade for free

You’re all in on one genuine treat today! So from now until At 11:00 AM EST tomorrow (December 25th), the Epic Games Store is offering one of the hottest indie games in recent years! This is actually a Christmas Eve special that people can download Dredge free! Dredgefor the uninitiated, a single-player fishing game is included no dark, creepy undertones at all! No!

If you don’t believe me Dredges popularity, let’s run the stats. First, it was nominated for a ton of “Best Indie Game” awards in 2023 – it even managed to win one! Further, on Steam, it has an overwhelming reception of… yes, “Overwhelmingly Positive”! But I get it. You are smarter than the average gamer. You are not easily swayed by reviews and popularity contests. You want to have visual proof so you know if you want to spend your Christmas Eve with a quality title. Well, if none of that has convinced you to rush to the Epic Games Store? Perhaps this will!

It is difficult for me to give a synopsis of Dredge without massively spoiling its secrets (as I tend to do when I get excited about a game). So it’s time to get the community involved! Let’s see if Steam can convince you to head over to the Epic Games Store (ironically) and give Dredge one shot!

“I really enjoy DREDGE. I love horror stories, but I have a hard time with traditional horror video games. The immersion can become too much and I become anxious to the point where it is not comfortable. DREDGE does a great job of balancing its creepy atmosphere and interesting story with a good mix of urgency and relaxation,” confirms a Steam reviewer!

here’s why you should stop reading this and download the free epic game store is offering right now

“I like that I’m free to enjoy the game at a slow, safe pace. Getting caught out at sea at night isn’t an instant death sentence, but there’s still enough creepiness and some OH MY GOD WHAT IS THIS? moments , which delivers adrenaline in a slow drip that a cowardly gamer like myself can really appreciate. I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds.”

It would be silly of me to tell you to go blind this late in the article. Don’t look though something related to this indie all-star after you leave here. Just go to the Epic Games Store and trust me, okay? Prepare yourself for vibes that somehow perfectly alternate between “really scary” and “chill as hell”. …If you’re like my partner and hate anything creepy from the sea (hello, Subnautica), maybe bring a change of pants while you’re at it. (And Merry Christmas Eve/Happy Holidays!)
