Snow and freezing cold hit the city

After some hit-and-miss showers in the city Friday, rain and snow are expected to return to the five boroughs late Friday night and continue into Saturday morning.

Saturday at 10, conditions should dry out, with total accumulation of no more than an inch in some places. There may be dust on grass and cars throughout the city.

In addition to the snow, arctic air is moving in, which will lead to some of the coldest temperatures in months on the first official day of winter, which is Saturday.

Highs Saturday will reach 35 before dropping into the teens Saturday night. The wind chill will be close to zero at times.

The cold will continue Sunday with highs in the mid-20s and lows back in the teens. Despite the cold, skies will be sunny and conditions will remain dry.
