‘They sent an offer’ – Player reveals Manchester City’s bid, transfer ruined by price-goers

Manchester City have previously had an approach to the Argentine national team player Thiago Almada.

The attacking midfielder himself tells it, and he revealed it during a chat with ESPN F90, passed on by Ole.

The 23-year-old received an offer from Manchester City when he was at CA Vélez Sarsfield.

He came up through the ranks of the Argentine club’s youth system and broke into their first team in 2018. Almada mainly operated as an attacking midfielder at Vélez, managing 24 goals and 10 assists from 100 appearances in all competitions.

The World Cup winner left Vélez for Atalanta United in January 2022 and then left the MLS side for Botafogo in the summer window. Before his move to America, Manchester City had made a bid for the player and their plan was to initially send him on loan to Sporting.

Pep Guardiola’s side were unsuccessful as Almada’s former club refused to accept their proposal.

“I had an offer at City. Vélez wanted me to renew because I had six months left on my contract. They sent the offer and I was going to Sporting for six months on loan,’ he said.

“But Vélez didn’t want to sell me for that money and I renewed. I didn’t want to go free either. I lived at Vélez. I wanted to do well.”

The report and the South American did not specify when the Premier League winners made an offer. That is likely to be in the summer of 2023, as claims from Argentina had spoken of Manchester City’s approach to Almada.
