Nico Iamaleava finds the end zone to narrow the deficit vs. Ohio State

Nico Iamaleava found the end zone with 20 seconds left in the first half to narrow Tennessee’s deficit against Tennessee going into halftime.

Thanks to Iamaleava’s quick scoring, the Vols will go into halftime down just 21-10. The Vols won the second quarter 10-0 after allowing the Buckeyes to score a touchdown on all 3 of their first quarter possessions.

His 2-yard rushing score came at the end of a much-needed 16-play, 79-yard drive for Tennessee. Here’s a replay:

Tennessee fell behind 21-0 after the first quarter against the Buckeyes. However, the Vols intercepted Will Howard in the end zone on Ohio State’s next possession to regain some momentum. Tennessee scored points on its final 2 drives of the half after finding very little success in the first quarter.

As a passer, it has been a tough start for Iamaleava. He has completed just 7-of-16 passes for 81 yards in the first half. It’s worth noting that Tennessee playmakers Dylan Sampson and Squirrel White are both dealing with injuries in this contest and have been limited to this point in the game.

Tennessee is competing in its first-ever College Football Playoff game.
