CA Lottery jackpot rises to $944M for Christmas Eve drawing

(KRON) — The California Lottery (CA Lottery) announced that there was no jackpot winner in Friday night’s drawing, pushing the prize to $944 million for this Tuesday’s drawing, which lands on Christmas Eve — talk about a Christmas stocking stuffer!

The whopping $944 million prize translates to an estimated cash value of $429.4 million.

Friday’s $862 million drawing marked the 29th drawing in this jackpot sequence, which began in September after the last Mega Millions jackpot was won in Texas.

For every $2 Mega Millions ticket sold in California, 80 cents goes to fund public education. Since September, the CA Lottery has raised $58.5 million for education through Mega Millions ticket sales alone.
