The cold front is coming to Florida, but expect a warm Christmas in Daytona

For people who want to enjoy themselves and feel Christmassy, this weekend will be the time to break out the scarves.

A cold front will roll through Volusia-Flagler overnight Friday into Saturday, bringing temperatures down into the weekend. But the cool temperatures don’t last.

Flagler County will see low temperatures in the 40s Saturday morning, said Ben Nelson, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jacksonville. Highs will likely be in the upper 50s to around 60 Saturday and Sunday.

“We’re getting another cold front through tonight and it’s going to make it feel like Christmas this weekend,” Nelson said. “It’s not going to last very long.”

By Christmas Day, temperatures are expected to be in the 70s in Flagler — still not that hot by Florida standards, but probably not scarf weather for most.

Volusia County weather for Christmas

Volusia County can expect a similar situation, said Brendan Schaper, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

Volusia residents can expect to wake up to cold temperatures Saturday morning, with lows in the 40s in most areas and highs likely to stay in the 50s or around the 60s.

“We will then start to warm up again on Sunday a little bit with cloudy skies (and) temperatures in the 60s,” Schaper said.

For Christmas in Volusia County, highs are expected to be in the mid-70s with lows in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.
