Keanu Reeves reacts to girlfriend Alexandra Grant on the red carpet

Keanu Reeves says he enjoys being “picked up” for a rare night out with his artist girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.

The longtime couple, who typically avoid the limelight, showed up dressed to the nines at the Los Angeles premiere of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Dec. 16.

Reeves, 60, who voices villain Shadow in the animated film, donned a dark suit with a red and blue tie, while Grant, 51, wore a black dress with striking silver, gold and purple sequins.

“We were thrown up and it was very exciting and just a little nerve-wracking in the car to get out. It’s really special to be side by side,” Reeves said “Entertainment tonight.”

Reeves added that it was a bonus to see Grant looking amazing in her dress.

The actor imitated the sound of angels singing to illustrate how he felt when he caught his first glimpse of Grant that night. “The heart just opens,” he added.

Reeves and Grant met in 2009 at a dinner party. They collaborated on a 2011 book together called “Ode to Happiness,” which Reeves wrote and Grant illustrated.

The couple went public with their romance in 2019 when they attended a MOCA Benefit in Los Angeles.

In September 2023, Grant opened up to People about her romance with the Hollywood star, saying she was thankful she was well into her career as a visual artist when the two met.

“The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time my relationship started,” she said. “I feel very secure in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident about that alone.”

She added that Reeves had “absolutely” had an influence on her art, which had become noticeably “happier” over the years.

“He’s such an inspiration to me,” Grant said. “He’s so creative, he’s so kind. He works so hard.”
