COMMITMENT: Virginia football reportedly lands North Texas transfer QB Chandler Morris

The Virginia Cavaliers aren’t done. They have been and will continue to be aggressive in the transfer portal. The ‘Hoos have picked up their fifth commitment in two days, the latest coming from a true playmaker and game-changer in North Texas, graduate transfer quarterback Chandler Morris.

Morris started his college career at Oklahoma, where he was on the roster for one season in 2020. He then transferred to TCU where he earned a starting role in 2023, and in 2024 he moved to North Texas and had a career year.

Last year for the Mean Green, Morris threw for 3,7774 yards, 31 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions and ran for four more scores. His 31 passing TDs were good enough for fourth nationally behind only Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward and Cade Klubnik.

He is a talented dual-threat quarterback with tremendous vision and playmaking ability who will help Virginia win football games in 2025.

Virginia has turned its quarterback room upside down since Anothy Colandrea entered the transfer portal and Tony Muskett ran out of eligibility. They brought in a young and talented quarterback in the portal in Daniel Kaelin, and have two true freshmen signed in Bjorn Jurgensen and Cole Greer. Gavin Frakes remains on the roster. However, they still needed a veteran quarterback on the roster to lead that space.

Chandler Morris is the guy who proves that Tony Elliott and his staff are serious about being in win-now mode.
