winter weather advisory Sunday evening for snow, sleet potential – NBC New York

A winter weather advisory was put in place late Sunday for many counties across the tri-state for potential winter weather threats to our area.

For the counties under the guidance, people will likely see snow at first before transitioning to freezing rain overnight.

Ice accumulations look small, just a few hundredths of an inch of icing, with an inch or two of snow at higher elevations. However, the ice could be enough to provide smooth roads for the Monday morning commute.

New York City is getting some rain and it should end by mid-morning Monday.

Another round of rain will arrive late Monday night and clear before sunrise Tuesday morning. Then comes a third round on Wednesday evening.

Basically, keep those layers and umbrellas handy for most of the week.
