‘One of the best shows’ as good as The Sopranos now streaming | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

A beloved TV series hailed as ‘one of the best of all time’ and said to ‘become faster than any other’ by fans is now available in its entirety for streaming.

The ground-breaking American police drama The Shield is known for its unique take on the police genre.

Every single episode is now available on Amazon Prime Video, making it easier than ever for viewers to indulge again or for the very first time.

First broadcast in the UK in 2002, the show delves into a gritty world where moral lines are blurred on a daily basis, challenging traditional police narratives.

With seven seasons spanning from 2002 to 2008 and a total of 88 episodes, the series stars Michael Chiklis as Vic Mackey.

His performance earned him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Chiklis later starred as The Thing in two Fantastic Four films and portrayed Boston Celtics basketball coach Red Auerbach in HBO’s Winning Time.

The star-studded cast also boasts Walton Goggins, known for his roles in Fallout, The White Lotus and The Righteous Gemstones. Guest appearances throughout the series include Glenn Close, Michael Pena, Anthony Anderson and Forest Whitaker, reports the mirror.

Empire magazine ranked The Shield at number 18 on its top 100 list of the greatest television series of all time.

The Shield, an acclaimed but gritty series, tells about the experiences of a special unit of the Los Angeles Police Department. Set in a fictional district marked by violence and crime, the team operates from a new church as they struggle to maintain order using often illegal measures.

Despite it being over a decade since The Shield last aired, it still garners huge praise, with many fans rating it alongside television’s most outstanding works. One admirer proclaimed: “The Shield is right up there with the likes of The Sopranos and Breaking Bad!”

On Rotten Tomatoes, where the show enjoys a commendable 90% score, one fan enthused: “This show deserves to be listed among TV titans like The Sopranos. Start to finish, it’s artistic. The writing never diminished over time, it only got stronger and the acting performances were all so unique with each character brilliant but all flawed in their own way and I’m constantly recommending to people who haven’t seen it to check it out.”

Another viewer shared: “One of the best shows ever. Never binged something so fast. Never got tired. Always entertaining.”
