LSU lands Bauer Sharp, transfer tight end from Oklahoma | LSU

LSU football landed its first transfer of the offseason Friday, and the addition will help the Tigers fill a position of need.

Bauer Sharp, a tight end who led Oklahoma in receiving last season, announced on social media that he is transferring to LSU. The 6-foot-4, 243-pound rising fifth-year senior spent the first three years of his career at Southeast Louisiana, then caught 42 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Sooners.

According to 247Sports, Sharp is the seventh-best tight end on the transfer portal. In Oklahoma’s Nov. 30 game against LSU, he caught a pass for four yards and threw an interception on a failed trick play.

“He has physicality,” coach Brian Kelly said Friday, “especially during the game.”

LSU lost its top two scholarship players this offseason. Junior Mason Taylor – the Tigers’ all-time leader in receptions and yards by a tight end – declared for the NFL draft and sophomore Ka’Morreun Pimpton decided to enter the transfer portal.

Those losses left LSU with just two scholarship players on the roster for the 2025 season: rising sophomore Trey’Dez Green and freshman John David LaFleur, a four-star recruit from Sulphur.

A native of Dothan, Alabama, Sharp has 37 career receptions for 208 yards and five touchdowns. He started his career at quarterback before switching positions after his true freshman season. He now has one season left.

“He definitely has the ability to do some really good things in the passing game for us as well,” Kelly said. “But I think what really stood out was having that kind of versatility in the running game and the passing game.”

Kelly also said Friday that Taylor will not play in the Dec. 31 Texas Bowl against Baylor.
