Brock Purdy injured right elbow, will undergo MRI

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was injured following a sack by Lions defensive back Brian Branch with 1:36 left on Monday Night Football.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said his starting quarterback hurt his right elbow.

“We think it’s some nerve stuff,” Shanahan said, via Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group.

Purdy will undergo an MRI on his elbow Tuesday to determine the severity. His status for Sunday’s season finale against the Cardinals is in doubt.

Purdy underwent surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow during the 2023 offseason. It took him six months to work his way back, but he played in 16 games last season and threw for 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and led the league with a 113.0 passer rating.

In Monday night’s 40-34 loss to the Lions, Purdy went 27-of-35 for a career-high 377 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Joshua Dobbs replaced Purdy and scored on a 7-yard scramble.
