NATCHEZ — A Natchez teenager did not survive when a tree fell on top of a Westwood Road home in the middle of Saturday night’s storms.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Tykeria Rodgers, Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said. Two other people inside the house got out safely, she added.

Natchez police and firefighters arrived at the scene to clear away branches and rescue trapped people around 10 p.m. 18. Unfortunately, Rodgers didn’t make it out.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow,” Green said of the incident. “It’s so devastating.”
