23:00 Warning of severe thunderstorms

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bibb County in central Alabama until midnight.

At 10:45 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Holt to near Vaiden, moving east at 60 mph. Expect damage to roofs, siding and trees. Affected locations include: Brent, Centreville, Vance, Woodstock, West Blocton, Lawley, Ashby, Brierfield Ironworks Park, Low Gap, West Centreville, Mertz, Talladega National Forest, Eoline, North Bibb, Randolph, Trio, Marvel, Six Mile, Bibb County Airport and Green Pond.

Be aware of a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado, immediately go into the basement or small central room of a sturdy structure. For your protection, move to an interior room on the bottom floor of a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 4:00 for central and west central Alabama.
