Rahmat, Shahidi pulled through all day

No wicket fell on the third day on Boxing Day Test match between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan in Bulawayo. This was the 25th occurrence in Test cricket.

Zimbabwe amassed 586, their highest score in Test cricket, after Craig Ervine won the toss and elected to bat. Sean Williams scored 154, Ervine himself got 104while Brian Bennett remained unbeaten at 110.

In reply, Afghanistan were 64-2 on the second night before Rahmat Shah and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi took the score to 95-2 at stumps. Rahmat and Shahidi then struck through the third day as Afghanistan finished on 425-2. The partnership, an unbroken 361, is Afghanistan’s highest for any wicket.

Rahmat reached 231 with stumps, the highest individual test score for Afghanistanwill not go past Shahidi’s 200 not out against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi in 2021. Shahidi is on 141.
