Matthew Stafford pushes Cardinals defender on play

Matthew Stafford doesn’t start and run very often, but he has shown some mobility a few times this season. The 36-year-old quarterback arguably had his best run of the season Saturday night against the Cardinals, though it wasn’t his longest.

After falling back and being stunned, Stafford sprang up the middle, made a defender miss with about as good a juke as you’d expect from a QB his age and found a seam for a 12-yard pickup. It looked like he might be headed for the end zone for his first rushing touchdown since 2022, but he opted to slide and let his teammates finish the drive.

He’s no Kyler Murray, but his 12-yard run was longer than any rush Murray had in the game up to that point.

Three plays after Stafford’s scramble, Kyren Williams got the Rams into the end zone with the game’s first score, running it in from 1 yard out to put Los Angeles up 7-0 after the PAT.
