Texas tornado confirmed in Brazoria County causes severe damage near Alvin

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — At least one tornado has been confirmed Saturday afternoon after severe damage struck several homes in Brazoria County.

According to Manvel Mayor Dan Davis, he has confirmed one death due to a tornado that touched down in Brazoria County. According to the victim’s family, they have confirmed that it was a woman who died.

SkyEye video also captured severe damage from the dangerous tornado that hit Walt Disney Elementary School in Alvin on Saturday.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office says a tornado touched down near Hillcrest Village and Liverpool. To assist with public safety, deputies are on scene and actively responding.

Authorities say to avoid the following areas, including SH 35 from FM 2403 south to CR 192 and CR 191 from CR 172 to SH 35.

According to the Alvin Fire Department, officials say many homes and schools near Mustang Road were severely damaged. Authorities say Mustang Road will be shut down, as will the southbound lanes of Highway 35.
