Panthers place Chuba Hubbard on injured reserve

Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard’s season is over.

Hubbard will be placed on injured reserve today, according to multiple reports. He had previously been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game with a knee injury. He is also dealing with a calf injury.

Hubbard was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 16 as a result of his outstanding 152-yard game in Sunday’s win over the Cardinals. It would prove to be his final game of his career-best season, in which he rushed for career-highs across the board with 250 carries for 1,195 yards, with 10 touchdowns and 62 first downs.

The 25-year-old Hubbard, who originally arrived in Carolina as a fourth-round draft pick in 2021, signed a four-year, $33.2 million contract extension with the Panthers last month. They want to protect that investment and sit Hubbard down until 2025, when they hope they play meaningful games in December.
