Early Saturday storms with Pacific front

Early Saturday storms with Pacific front

Some storms swing through early this Saturday morning and more will likely form over the next few hours as a strong weather system moves through. Some of the storms could be severe with the greatest impacts for areas along and east of I-35. Hail, up to 2″, is the main concern in early morning storms, followed by strong, damaging winds. A severe storm watch is in place for Bosque, Hill and Navarro counties until noon today. As the storms move east, the threat of damaging winds will increase, especially in the afternoon. Around 15.00 all activity had to move out. Where it is not raining, there is a possibility of dense fog.

By late afternoon the storms should clear, leading to a nice evening with some fog in the east. Saturday will be mostly sunny with temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

For the last Monday of 2024, it will be warm, with temperatures rising up to 20° above normal as highs reach around 80! The front that will ring in the new year is strong and will arrive Monday night. High temperatures will drop a good 20+ degrees by New Year’s Eve with daytime highs around 60°. We dip into the 30s overnight and a light freeze is possible for our northern counties on the first night of 2025. More spots around freezing Thursday morning but southerly winds return to Friday bringing warmer temperatures again with a steady rise back into the low and mid 60s by the end of next week.
