Niagara Falls road closures on New Year’s Eve

Niagara Parks, in partnership with the City of Niagara Falls, will implement planned road closures across key tourist areas near the falls for public access and safety on New Year’s Eve.

Fireworks over the Falls are scheduled for 8pm and midnight on December 31, and the city is guaranteed to be busy.

Roadblocks:

Niagara Parkway between Clifton Hill and Fraser Hill will be closed to vehicular traffic from 19.00, with full road closure at 8 p.m. Clifton Hill will also be closed to cars and motorbikes from Victoria Avenue to Falls Avenue.

Murray Street, from Niagara Parkway to Warren Avenue (Skylon Driveway), will be closed from 7 p.m., with a full road closure from Skylon Driveway to Fallsview Boulevard from

The City of Niagara says all road closures will be at the discretion of Niagara Parks and Niagara Police, and timing may be adjusted as needed. In the event of inclement weather or lower than expected visitor levels, closures may be changed or cancelled.

“By closing these roads to vehicular traffic, pedestrians will have smoother and safer access throughout the central tourism area during holiday celebrations that typically bring higher visitation to Niagara Falls,” it adds.

Parking and transport

All Niagara Parks operations, including parking lots and WEGO bus service, runs as usual on New Year’s Eve. However, guests should anticipate potential service delays or disruptions on routes through the tourist area.

People driving to Niagara Falls are encouraged to take advantage parking spaces in the area. Niagara Parks’ Rapidsview Parking Lot offers $10 parking and a shuttle service to and from the Table Rock Centre.

The Falls Incline Railway – which connects the Fallsview tourist area and the Table Rock Center – will operate until 01:00 to assist guests traveling to Queen Victoria Park for New Year’s Eve.
